Squarespace to Replit

# Keep the polish of your Squarespace site. Lose the template limits.

Squarespace sites tend to look good from day one, which is why so many creatives and small businesses choose it. Owners who contact us usually want something the template will not do: a different page structure, a custom tool, or faster changes without working through the editor. We rebuild the site on Replit and keep the look and content you like.

Why owners consider it

## Situations we hear about

### The template sets the limits

Templates and blocks cover a lot, but custom layouts and tools often need code injection or a workaround.

### Some content does not export

Squarespace's export covers certain content types only, so owners planning ahead want their content in a codebase they control.

### Improvements need a developer anyway

Once a site needs custom features, owners often find themselves hiring help to work around the platform.

## What we rebuild

- Pages and blog posts you want to keep, recreated in the new design
- Galleries and images you own or are licensed to reuse
- Navigation, footer and contact routes
- Forms, rebuilt for the new site
- Page titles, descriptions and important addresses, with redirects where they change

## What we handle by hand

- Commerce products, subscriptions and digital downloads
- Member areas and gated content
- Scheduling (Acuity) and other connected services
- Code injection and custom CSS
- Email campaigns and audience lists
- Content types that the export does not include

## Exporting content and asset rights

Squarespace can export certain content into an .xml file designed for import into WordPress. Its help centre lists which content types are included, and notes that only one blog page exports, so sites with several blogs need extra work.[1]

Squarespace notes that content cannot be exported from one Squarespace site and imported into another. Products have a separate import and export process.[2]

We use the export file for blog posts and pages it covers, and collect remaining content and images from the published site. Images supplied by Squarespace or its partners may carry their own licence terms, so we confirm what you can reuse.

## Addresses, redirects and integrations

- We list the current page addresses, including blog posts and any collection or category pages, before quoting.
- Squarespace page and blog addresses are usually simple paths, so many can be kept exactly.
- Where an address must change, we set up a permanent redirect from the old address once the domain points to the new site.
- We check forms, booking widgets, maps, analytics and newsletter sign-ups, and agree which are rebuilt, replaced with an established external service, or retired.
- After launch we check the redirects and submit the new sitemap. This protects the signals your existing pages have earned.

### Design rebuild or data migration?

A design rebuild recreates the look, structure and content of your public pages on a new codebase. A direct data migration moves structured records, such as hundreds of blog posts or collection items, through a scripted import. Most small sites need a design rebuild with a manageable amount of content carried across. Large content libraries get a technical assessment first, so the quote is accurate.

After the move

## Editing in plain language

Industries that often move from Squarespace

- [Cafes](https://aidrivensites.com/industries/cafes)

**Will my site look the same?**

It can look very close, and we usually refine it at the same time. The new site is built fresh, so the code is yours outright.

**What happens to my Squarespace store?**

We can rebuild it on the new site with a payment provider such as Stripe, connect an established store service, or keep the store on Squarespace and link to it. We quote the option that suits you.

**Will my search rankings survive the move?**

We protect your search standing by keeping important addresses, redirecting those that change, carrying over titles and descriptions, and checking the site after launch.

**Can I keep my domain and email?**

Yes. The domain stays registered to you. We point the website to the new host and leave email records alone unless you ask us to change them. If the domain is registered through your current builder, you can keep it there or transfer it; we explain both.
